Frequently Asked Questions

What size dumpster do I need?

A good rule of thumb is that a 2 yard dumpster will hold three to four residential carts. Most retail stores will order an 8 yard dumpster serviced weekly and then service can be adjusted to every other week if you find the dumpster is not being filled up.

What materials can NOT be placed in the dumpster?

Generally speaking any hazardous waste, liquids or special wastes such as paints or pesticides may not be disposed of in a front load dumpster. Further some types of materials may not be mixed in the load if they are required by law to be recycled such as cardboard. Special handling is required for appliances and computers.

People are dumping trash in my dumpster. What can I do?

We offer gravity locks which are available at a cost of $75 for the one time installation.

Do I need to do anything special on the day I have a scheduled dump?

Be sure to maintain clear and safe access. Also, you will need to ensure there are no vehicles parked in front or on the sides of the dumpster. If dumpsters are not accessible or are overloaded when the driver arrives there is a trip charge to have them return at a later time.

Where can I place the roll off dumpster?

Most homeowners have the dumpster placed in their driveway. Please keep in mind that driveways must have a firm foundation or the weight of the truck and loaded dumpster may crack the driveway. Containers may also be placed on the lawn, but the weight of the dumpster and truck will damage the lawn and in some cases leave ruts. Please examine the area you would like the dumpster to be placed to ensure there is enough access keeping in mind that there must be at least 25' of overhead clearance.

What types of heavy materials can be placed in the roll off dumpster?

Dirt, bricks, and other compact material may be placed in dumpsters, but only a maximum of 1/3 of the dumpster may be filled due to their weight. Our trucks are permitted to safely haul 10 tons of material. If dumpsters are overfilled it is the customer's responsibility to unload the material to a safe weight level. Any overweight tickets will be passed on to the customer.

How large is a 30 yard roll off?

A 30 yard is 22’ feet long and 5’ high. We estimate that you can fit approximately 10 level pick up truck loads in one dumpster. Keep in mind that pricing on roll offs is based on weight so the lighter the material the less expensive and the heavier the more costly it will be to dispose of. Average roll off weights for home renovation projects are from two to four tons while larger projects can range from seven to eight tons per haul.
